NBC 2013 Fall Schedule Predictions

NBC has a lot of holes in its schedule. Outside of The Voice NBC's schedule is in limbo. I believe the network needs to have a sense of stability (The Voice on Monday and Tuesday) but also be bold in scheduling.

Here's my prediction based on articles from a variety of sources such as Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, and Variety to name a few. Shows in bold and italics are new shows.

Monday

8-10: The Voice
10-11: Blacklist

Tuesday

8-9: The Voice
9-10: Believe
10-11: Revolution

Wednesday

8-9: Chicago Fire
9-10: Chicago PD
10-11: LO: SVU

Thursday

8-9: Sean Saves the World/ Undateable
9-10: Micheal J Fox/ About A Boy
10-11: Parenthood

Friday

8-9: Dateline
9-10: Grimm
10-11: Dracula

Sunday

8-11: Sunday Night Football

Blacklist gets the plum 10pm slot after The Voice since, according to reports, it's the highest testing pilot NBC has had in over a decade (wonder what that other show was).

The rest of the week is organized into "themes":
  •  Tuesday is JJ Abrams night with two of his serialized shows.
  • Wednesday is Dick Wolf night with his staple of procedurals.
  • Thursday is "family" night. All of the shows (minus Undateable) have a familial theme to them. I paired both multi-cams together at 8pm, single cams at 9pm, Parenthood to cap off the night.
  • Friday is "fantasy" night with Grimm leading into Dracula.
So how close will my schedule be? Probably far off. I have NBC debuting 8 new shows for the fall (4 dramas, 4 comedies). That's a daunting task for a network to advertise all those new shows.

All other NBC shows that were renewed or ordered to series will air mid season. NBC has the Olympics in February so the network will have another chance to launch new shows in March after the Olympics.

NBC will release their schedule around 2pm Sunday.
